When will Fedor Emelianenko make his Strikeforce debut?
According to Scott Coker, the CEO of Strikeforce, Fedor’s debut looks to be set for November, though an opponent has not been set. Here’s what he had to say during the post-fight press conference last night:
“It’s probably going to be in November I definitely think there’s two guys here that would be a quality opponent for Fedor.
I think Brett Rogers is one of the guys we have to take a serious look at. And Fabricio (Werdum) looked great tonight. I think on any given day he could do his thing.
Last week, Strikeforce senior vice president Ken Hershman mentioned October 10th as a possible date for Fedor’s first fight. It appears that is not happening now. Coker also mentioned that they would like to do two shows a month in both November and December, and really pick up the pace next year, with plans for 18-20 shows. Included in that number are shows that could be aired on CBS, and possibly even a pay-per-view show.
The next Strikeforce event is September 25th and will take place in Bixby, Oklahoma. Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos’ husband, Evangelista Santos, has been scheduled to fight Tim Kennedy in the main event.
