WEC 43 moved to October 10th due to Henderson injury

Due to an injury to main event participant Ben Henderson, the WEC has been forced to move their scheduled September 2nd event, WEC 43, to October 10th. Henderson was scheduled to take on Donald Cerrone for the interim lightweight championship, a fight that was signed because WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner has been unable to compete due to injury.
Henderson and Cerrone are still expected to headline WEC 43, just at the new, later date. The event was originally scheduled to be held in Youngstown, Ohio, but will now likely be moved to a different venue. Henderson’s injury is not known at this time, but apparently wasn’t too serious since he is now expecting to fight in October.
Henderson is 9-1 in his MMA career, and 2-0 in the WEC. He most recently defeated Shane Roller via TKO in the 1st round at WEC 40. Meanwhile, Cerrone is 10-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the WEC. After losing to WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner at WEC 38 in a controversial ending, Cerrone rebounded with a quick submission victory over James Krause at WEC 41. He had been promised a rematch with Varner, but lingering injuries have kept Varner out of action since their first fight.
