Thiago Alves struggling to make weight for UFC 100 title fight?
According to Mike Straka, host of Fox Fight Game at Foxnews.com, Thiago Alves is struggling to make weight and is currently about 20 lbs over right now for his welterweight title fight against Georges St. Pierre this Saturday. These are his last two tweets:

Hearing Alves is struggling to make weight. 20 lbs over. My guess is he will make it. Its 104 degrees here for crying out loud.
Problems cutting weight are nothing new for Alves. At UFC 66, Alves tested positive for a diuretic after his victory over Tony DeSouza because he needed help to cut the weight. He served an eight month suspension for the offense. At UFC 85, Alves weighed in at 174 lbs, four pounds overweight, for his fight against Matt Hughes. The fight ended up being contested at a catchweight and Alves won via TKO. He blamed an ankle injury that limited his cardio training right before the weigh ins.
Not making weight would be disasterous for Alves. However, this could all be a widespread rumor at this point, and we havent had anyone associated with Alves make the same statements. But if Alves is indeed having problems making weight again he needs to alter his weight cutting procedures or eventually he’ll have to make a move up to the UFC’s middleweight division. I’m sure Dana White and the UFC brass is sweating at this point, and for his own sake, hopefully Alves is too.
