UFC light heavyweights Brian Stann and Steve Cantwell will battle it out on the UFC Fight Night 19 card in September, according to UFC.com. The two have fought twice previously, both in the WEC.

In their first fight at WEC 26 in Las Vegas, Cantwell was stunned early by Stann and never recovered. The fight only lasted 41 seconds with Stann declared the winner via TKO. After a few more victories, Stann captured the WEC light heavyweight title with a victory over Doug Marshall. His first title defense was a rematch with Cantwell, and this time Cantwell emerged victorious with a TKO in the 2nd round.

After the WEC folded their light heavyweight division, both fighters made their way to the UFC. They were slated to face off against each other at UFC: Fight for the Troops, but Stann was forced to pull out due to a foot injury. Stann lost his first UFC fight at UFC 97 to Krzysztof Sosynski in the first round via submission, while Cantwell is 1-1 in the UFC. Cantwell submitted replacement opponentĀ Razak Al-Hassan at UFC: Fight for the Troops, and then lost to light heavyweight prospect Luiz Cane at UFC 97 by unanimous decision in a good battle.

UFC Fight Night 19 takes place on September 19th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The card includes a main event between Melvin Guillard and Nate Diaz, and also features a contest between Gray Maynard and Roger Huerta. The Stann/Cantwell contest is currently slated for the preliminary card.
