A rumored bout between welterweight contenders Mike Swick and Martin Kampmann for UFC 103 has been confirmed according to mmajunkie.com.

There had been rumors that Swick would fight Matt Hughes on the same card, but recently Swick noted that negotiations were breaking down and it appeared Kampmann would be the opponent instead.

Kampmann has gone 2-0 since he dropped down from the middleweight division in late 2008, beating Alexandre Barros and Carlos Condit. Swick is coming off a 2nd round TKO over Ben Saunders at UFC 99 and is 9-1 in his UFC career, and 4-0 since he dropped down from middleweight. The winner of this matchup should be in line for a title shot.

UFC 103 is expected to take place on September 19th in Dallas, Texas, though no official announcement has been made.

Yes this is gonna be a good fight. Kampmann has proven himself to be a really tough and legit fighter capable of beating top fighters. Swick has also proven that he’s a legit contender and his record speaks for itself. Both guys also provide barnburners and finish alot of their fights

Yeah, two of my favorite guys here. Kampmann impressed many with his win over Carlos Condit, and Swick just keeps on beating anyone they put in front of him. It’ll be Swick’s toughest opponent in awhile. If he can put pressure on Kampmann like Marquardt did he can be successful I think. Should be a fun fight to watch.
