Mark Coleman Out of UFC 106 Fight With Tito Ortiz

Due to a MCL tear in his knee, Mark Coleman has been forced to pull out of his scheduled fight with Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 in November. Ortiz announced the news first on his Twitter account:

Coleman, coleman, coleman to bad he sissies out!!! Who’s next??? I’m kicking someone’s ass on Nov 21st!

Coleman’s camp wasn’t happy about the claim that Coleman “Sissied” out of the fight, and quickly announced that he had suffered the tear in his knee, and had asked the UFC to move the fight back to January. Ortiz wanted to fight in November, so the fight couldn’t be moved.

Ortiz hasn’t had a new opponent announced, and the list of likely possibilities is short. Most of the top light heavyweights have fights scheduled. Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans are set for UFC 108, Jon Jones is fighting Matt Hammill in December, Forrest Griffin just got married and is nowhere near ready to fight, and Rich Franklin told me this week that he was taking some time off to heal up and wouldn’t be fighting anytime soon. That would leave guys such as Stephan Bonnar or Houston Alexander. Decent names, but ones that Ortiz should be able to defeat easily. Look for an announcement soon.
