Jose Aldo vs. Mike Brown set for November 11th

WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown will take on featherweight prospect Jose Aldo for the title on November 11th at WEC 45, according to various reports. The 22 year old Aldo is coming off an impressive 8 second TKO victory over veteran Cub Swanson at WEC 41 moving his MMA record to 15-1 and his WEC record to 5-0.
Some had speculated that Aldo may move down to bantamweight to challenge Miguel Torres to allow his teammate Wagnney Fabiano to get the crack at Brown, but that appears not to be the case. Instead, Fabiano is slated to face WEC newcomer Eric Koch at WEC 43 in September. It’s a tough break for Fabiano, widely rated as a top five featherweight, and ahead of Aldo in most rankings. The 34 year old Fabiano has an eight fight winning streak, but apparently the WEC has chosen to go with the younger, more exciting Aldo as the next challenger to Brown.
Mike Brown is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Urijah Faber at WEC 41. Brown has now defended his featherweight title twice since winning it from Faber at WEC 36. This will be a great fight between two explosive 145lb fighters, although I’m not quite sure if Aldo is ready to take on someone as talented as Mike Brown. We’ll see in November.
